Sengoku Jidai - Interesting Findings

Before this new scenario was released to the public, 10 PC tests and 3 SNES tests had been performed under non-war-viewing mode. It has been found that the winner is always the youngest ruler. This is because in this mode, AI players always fail to conquer the others until other families break down when their rulers pass away.

Apparently there is at least one winner (the youngest ruler). Is this always true ?

What happens as AI Sengoku Jidai carries on ?

In the 6th trial-run of the game, after many years, only two families remained. Keyla ruled the north and Hubert ruled the south. Who will win ?

Hubert had significant advantage, However, under the current AI design and this mode, no one could ever reunite the country by conquest without the break-down of other families.

What happens if a ruler fails to conquer the land before his/her death ?

Unfortunately, Hubert failed to destroy Keyla before he's dead when he reached the age of 75. the Audley family (south) broke down into smaller families as Hubert lacks Heirs. The same happened to Keyla later. Note that when a ruler died, if no lord was assigned to a province, the province would become vacant automatically. Otherwise, the lord will form a new family.

From now on, the remaining youngest rulers were Alex and Anise. Alex ruled the south with Lyle's flag while Anise ruled the west with Blanche's flag.

Alex had the overwhelming power to defeat everyone. The only advantage Anise had - she was one year younger than Alex ! Would this 'edge' work ?

Anise was almost destroyed. However, if she could hold until the death of Alex, she would be the ultimate winner ! Have you ever think of this possibility ?

Age Is The Most Important Factor In The Last Few Years Of The Game

In non-war-viewing mode of PC version, if a homeland has a healthy 5 unit and has enough food. It is virtually immune to any attacks even if the city has no soldiers. Alex attacked Anise over 30 times yet Grandpa never managed to defeat Grandma !

Finally, Alex died before he could destroy Anise. All his lands turned vacant and Anise had one full year to capture all of them ! She must be the ultimate winner ! How lucky she is !

AI Doesn't Know The Importance Of Capturing Vacant Lands

Unfortunately, Grandma Anise walked so slowly that she was unable to capture all the vacant lands within the year before her death. After the last ruler on the planet had died, the game ended in sorrow:

Even as the spectator I was so surprised to see this !

Would This Be Avoided In SNES ? No.

A separate test was conducted. Although it's widely udnerstood that AI in SNES is slightly better than PC, the same thing repeat. AI does not know how to capture all lands with the fastest speed.

The game then returns to the main menu. Okay, that's all folks ! Thanks for watching.
